Even as the Indian government has banned the telecast of India’s Daughter, a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) documentary in the aftermath of the Nirbhaya gangrape incident of December 16, 2012 in Delhi, the British channel has gone ahead and aired the film. India now plans to take action against the BBC for telecasting it, as the documentary made by Leslee Udwin features an interview with one of the rapists of the 23-year-old Nirbhaya who has said many objectionable things about women being responsible for rape. A new viral video titled WOMEN decide a RAPIST’S fate has emerged concerning the issue, in support of #NirbhayaInsulted.
Created by The Soul Factory for Nirbhaya and Women’s Day, this video asked women from different backgrounds what they felt should be done with a man who has raped a hapless woman. The girls in the video were first requested to read out idiotic statements made my politicians and other famous personalities in defence of rape. They then gave their reactions to those illogical claims.
The women were further asked to decide a rapist’s fate, and the answers were pretty basic and to the point: Hang them, kill them, castrate them, banish them from society and what have you. If watching this video doesn’t deter rapists, sadly, nothing ever will. Watch the soul-searching video here.
