Gender discrimination does exist in India, but not like it used to. If you don’t agree, then you should watch this video. A social experiment by news channel NDTV proved that not all Indians are biased towards women, and that not everyone prays and waits for a baby boy to be born rather than a baby girl. This video proves that there are many who celebrate when a girl is born and consider themselves lucky to be blessed with a daughter.
On the wake of increasing injustice and harassment meted out to women of all age groups in the country, this constructed video shows how people reacted in public when a little girl was discriminated against just on the basis of her gender by her mother.
NDTV recreated a scene where the lady pampered her son by buying him eatables and let her daughter eat his leftover food, the people around them did not stand and watch as mere spectators, but reacted by telling the woman that her gender bias was not right. A woman begins to gently confront the lady and soon men in the crowd also join in, answering in the positive to her stupid questions about the girl child like ‘Will my daughter light my funeral pyre like my son?’ Surely, things are going in the right direction for the girl child in India!
