The Supreme Court has once again proved that the apex court of Indian judiciary takes correct and genuine decisions. This time around it has lifted the ban imposed by six states on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmaavat. The decision of Supreme Court has been hailed and applauded by Twitterati who have been extremely happy about lifting the ban on the movie’s release. The state governments of Haryana, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand had earlier said that they will not let the film release in their states. The producers of Padmaavat had filed a petition challenging the same and now the film will release worldwide on January 25, 2018. Twitter users were ecstatic about the news and congratulated Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the actors for this win.
Padmaavat had been in controversy right from the time the film was being made from religious groups who vandalized the sets and demanded a ban on the movie. The Censor Board changed the name of the film from Padmavati to Padmaavat and released a disclaimer in a leading daily announcing the release date and the fact that it is based on a fictional account by a renowned poet and does not demean any historical figure.
