Saif Ali Khan’s latest movie Phantom has been in the news in Pakistan for all the wrong reasons. It was banned in the country as it was supposedly anti-Pakistani. Director Kabir Khan and the actors of the film, Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif expressed much grief over the banning of the movie. While Saif Ali Khan said that it deeply pained him and it was shameful. He also went on to say that he didn’t have faith in Pakistan. While Saif was clearly hurt by the ban, director Kabir Khan took it 2 steps further and said that he was now fearful for his life with the ban. He suspected anti-social elements to create havoc between the two countries and threaten his life thanks to the movie.

And while the entire world has enjoyed and appreciated Phantom and it’s creating waves in India, movies from across the border haven’t exactly been appreciated in India. There have been hosts of Pakistani movies which have been banned in all of India or parts of it (latest being Bin Roye in Maharashtra). While Pakistani serials and some actors are slowly enjoying appreciation and visibility in their neighbouring land. Similarly, Indian actors and movies have enjoyed much appreciation and fame in Pakistan, irrespective of their banned status.

The entire controversy over Phantom seems a little unnecessary considering the antagonism the citizens of the both the countries have towards each other. While the common man might even want to work and strive towards peace, anti-social elements or narrow minded hypocrites continue the ranting and the hate. And unfortunately, Pakistani actor Faisal Qureshi is one of them.

His rant on Patriotism and against Saif goes on and shows just how much hared and false emotion is present between the two nations. Faisal Qureshi, go take a break!
