The Pakistani cricket team entered the finals of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Final by knocking England off the race. However, the Pakistani cricketers are still in the news for all the wrong reasons. Injured Pak Pacer Wahab Riaz was recently put on sale on the e-commerce website, eBay. The fast pace bowler gave away 87 runs in their first match against India in the Champions Trophy 2017 and was put on sale after this performance. eBay was quick to remove the bids but not before screenshots of the bidding event were taken and circulated on the social media. Pictures of the bid show the Pakistani pacer was described with words like ‘used, ‘some wear and tear’ and hairy and have gone viral on the social media.
Wahab Riaz was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 after sustaining an injury in the first India vs Pakistan match. However, the cricketer was auctioned on eBay by a user that called the “product” as ‘Used’ Wahab Riaz and described the condition of the product as ‘Some wear and tear. Hairy. There were more than 50 bids placed on the player that went as high as 610 Australian dollars before the e-commerce website took down the product. The reason for the sale was written as “I Don’t need him anymore.”
The user also described Wahab Riaz as an “an item that would make a good paperweight or garden gnome”, and the page already received 50 bids. The left-arm pacer faced a lot of backlash for his poor performance in his last match against India, and the effects of the expensive overs seem to be resonating even now. Riazleaked 87 runs in the India vs Pakistan match on June 4 and became the most expensive bowler in a match in the history of champions trophy.

While Riaz acknowledged the terrible performance in an important match, netizens seem to be far from forgiving towards the injured player. Riaz has already apologised to his fans on twitter and accepted that his performance was not good enough and that he was heartbroken by this fact. However, the Pakistani cricket fans are immensely satisfied with Wahab’s replacement, Junaid Khan who has turned into a star performer in the Pak team’s recent matches.
