Shahid Kapoor, who will be seen in and as Kabir Khan, went from fit to fat and again fit for the role. If you have watched the trailer of Kabir Singh, you must have noticed one common thing between Kabir and Tommy Singh of Udta Punjab. The role, played by Shahid Kapoor shows him as a doctor who gulps down alcohol straight from the bottle and smokes cigarettes. No matter, whatever the role is, Shahid gets into the character every time.

Recently, Shahid Kapoor took to Instagram to share a transformation pic from fit to fat and captioned it as “As a star one is so conditioned to showcasing oneself at ones best. But as an actor one has to have the guts to show yourself at your worst. #kabirsingh in my blood. Hope you feel him too.”

For Kabir Khan, the daddy of two went the extra mile for his role in the film. According to Koimoi, Shahid first put on over 8 kgs to play a functioning alcoholic which required him to look bloated and out of shape and then dropped 12 kgs to look boyish and smaller than his frame, to play a medical college student.

Take a look at transformation picture of Shahid Kapoor:

Shahid Kapoor’s trainer Samir Jaura shared details to Indian Express about the physical transformation that the actor underwent for his two distinct looks in the film. Samir said, “It was the first time since Ishq Vishk (2003) that Shahid would be seen as a college goer. So, I put him on a strict 1400-1500 calorie a day diet, along with extensive cardio sessions to achieve a lean look.”

For an alcoholic look, Samir shared, “We had to design his workout in such a way that he looks bigger but not muscular. The original character is a doctor, so it would be inauthentic to have a doctor with six-pack abs.”
