“Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” has become the first ever Indian movie to cross Rs 1,000 crore at Box Office internationally. Karan Johar, whose Dharma Productions distributes the Hindi version of Bahubali 2, announced the movie has become the first Indian film to collect Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. However, the movie has seems to have faced the wrath of piracy. Like many other movies, pirated CDs and DVDs of the blockbuster are available in the market. In a massive raid, Chennai Police seized 2,100 pirated copies of the full movie along with few other Tamil movies. Chennai Police Commissioner Karan Singha carried out the raid following a complaint by Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council President Vishal.
As per an India Today report, Vishal said that the Council had been receiving information from producers of Bahubali that along with pirated CDs, some websites were also illegally uploading the movie. As per the complaint, a group that calls itself as Tamil Rockers which have threatened to upload many movies in the past including Tamil movie Singham 3 have made the threat. Following the complaint, police raided Burma Bazar, Sathya Bazar, Vadapalani, Ratna Bazar and Choolaimedu and arrested 16 people. Police also seized DVDs of movies like Kavan, power Paandi and Dora. Baahubali 2 has minted Rs 800 crore at the Indian Box Office and Rs 200 crore at the overseas market. The movie’s lead actor Prabhas recently thanked his fans for making the movie a grand success. SS Rajamouli’s movie also has Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, and Sathyaraj, Tamanna Bhatia in other important roles. The movie also beat Aamir Khan’s 2014 film ‘PK’ which collected approximately 123 million USD. Baahubali 2 also beat Tom Hanks’ ‘The Circle’ at the North American box office becoming the first Indian movie to be at number three at US box office.
