Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the National Highway project at Arrah, Bihar, on August 18, 2015. Modi in his speech praised Nitin Gadkari, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, saying he has revolutionised road transport in the state of Maharashtra. He also promised that Nitin Gadkari would “ensure that every corner of Bihar has connectivity”.
The PM who was in Dubai for two days before he visited Bihar, played to the gallery, saying, “I came back from Dubai early this morning, and now I am before you. Those who plan my schedule were worried. However, aapne pukara aur hum chale aaye (You called me, and here I am).”
Modi announced a special package for Bihar on the occasion. The PMO said on Twitter, “1.25 crore + 40,000 crore of the existing projects etc. This totals to Rs. 1.65 lakh crore for the development of Bihar: PM”.
