Pop sensation Taylor Swift, who has hit numbers like ‘Look what you made me do’ and ‘Bad blood’ to her credit, has picked up the song of the year award for writing ‘Little Big Town’s Better Man’ at the prestigious Country Music Association Award 2017. This is Swift’s 12th CMA Award. She has previously won awards for entertainer of the year and album of the year.
Taylor has penned the lyrics of the song ”Better Man’ for the American country group Little Big Town. The song has been performed by Little Big Town and was released in October 2016. It was the lead single from the group’s eighth album, The Breaker (album released in February 2017). The song, a breakup number, is allegedly inspired by Swift’s personal life. The lyrics read, “I know I’m probably better off on my own than lovin’ a man who didn’t know what he had when he had it. And I see the permanent damage you did to me/Never again, I just wish I could forget when it was magic.”
The award was received by Karen Fairchild on behalf of Taylor Swift. Karen is a member of the four-piece band that has performed the song. After receiving the award, Fairchild said, “Taylor, wherever you are, thank you for this beautiful song and for loving songs and loving Nashville.”
