Gone are the days when the tinsel town denizens committed Oh No! fashion faux pas moments and wardrobe malfunctions took place. Now, B-town ladies and even male stars are always impeccably dressed, whether in India or at global events. The ever evolving fashion world is now replete with a rising trend of stylists and makeup artists who ensure that these beautiful stars never face a dull moment and their style books are to vie for! Understanding the finer nuances of power dressing, stylists have assumed an integral part in a movie star’s life. But what happens when the ideologies of two stylists clash? Well, it results into what we call FASHION MAYHEM! This week began on a frenzied note with the Golden Globe Awards 2017 that peaked our interests in global fashion, more so owing to the much awaited presence of two lissome B-town divas – Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.

Immortalising Mastani and Kashibai in the epic love saga, Bajirao Mastani, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra constantly keep the media wondering about their equation and camaraderie! But what happens when the two former BFFs decide to outwit each other in the style game, courtesy their big Hollywood debuts this year? While Priyanka Chopra is slated to ring in her Hollywood career with a badass villainous role in the Baywatch movie, Deepika Padukone in the feisty role of Serena Unger in xXx: Return Of Xander Cage is already making us swoon! Inadvertently, the Kashibai and Mastani of Bollywood found themselves wearing gold at two of the most important events for them – the Golden Globes 2017 and the xXx: Return of Xander Cage Mumbai premiere. Who fared better? Here’s our take. (ALSO SEE Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Vin Diesel at the xXx: Return Of Xander Cage premiere in Mumbai make it a sparkling affair to remember!)

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra

Going golden on the red carpet, Priyanka Chopra was styled by Cristina Ehrich and donned a fitted Ralph Lauren gown that is rumoured to be a result of over 1600 hours of hand embroidery. She had accessorised the ditzy ensemble with a stunning and delicate custom made necklace by Lorraine Schwartz. The gown was replete with a deep plunge, and full sleeves to add to the drama! With those signature oxblood lips and loose tresses, Priyanka Chopra’s makeup was subtle and perfected her ensemble to the T. Deepika Padukone

At the Mumbai premiere of xXx: Return Of Xander Cage on January 12 at the PVR Palladium in Lower Parel, Deepika Padukone stepped into a vintage full sleeved golden, shimmery gown by Naeem Khan, again with a dangerous plunge that traversed all the way to her abdomen! Keeping the accessory game to minimal, Deepika Padukone wore only earrings from Notandas and no neckpiece. She was styled by Shaleena Nathani and Elizabeth Saltzman and her team. Daniel Bauer, the makeup maverick rendered Deepika Padukone with simple makeup and some stray strands of her hair skimming her lovely face. Buzz Style Verdict

Priyanka Chopra: It’s quite safe to say that Priyanka Chopra looked quite at ease on the red carpet in the glittery dress at the xXx: Return of Xander Cage premiere. The Quantico star’s entry at the Instyle After Awards Party with Sophia Vergera is proof enough, as she was up to some quirky antics in the elevator with her! Watch video here.

Deepika Padukone: The actress’ pictures as the Golden Girl from the xXx: Return of Xander Cage Mumbai premiere distinctly convey the star’s discomfort. With awkward hand gestures, it looks like her long sleeves are restricting her hand movements. Even in this dress, Deepika Padukone managed to dance to her song Lungi Dance from Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Chennai Express at the fan meet before the premiere of xXx!

Deepika Padukone

So, it’s not surprising that we later caught Deepika Padukone tripping on her own dress!

Also, by repeating a golden ensemble in less than a week, Deepika Padukone’s style team committed a major fashion blunder and needless to say, set the pace for more such fashion face-offs! Well, need we say more? Our vote as the Golden Girl certainly goes to Priyanka Chopra who carried off the ensemble with ease, aplomb and a snazzy swagger! Do you agree?
