An Australian farmer revealed a giant and unusual chicken egg to all via Facebook and the same has sent social media into a frenzy. The egg, three times larger than the normal had a smaller egg inside. Yes, the oversized egg was laid by normal chicken at Stockman’s eggs farm. The farm is on the Atherton Tablelands, west of Cairns, North of Queensland. Scott Stockman has worked all his life in the eggs farm but never saw anything like this. “I have never seen such a large egg,” he told news.com.au. “It has got everyone baffled about why it happened,” he added. “When I opened it I thought we might get two, three or four yolks inside because you quite often get double yolkers, but we were really surprised to find another whole egg inside the big egg,” he told Herald Sun.
As per the Facebook post, the egg weighed whopping 176 grams against the normal weight of 58 gm. But the giant egg became more special when a smaller egg came out from it. Associate Professor Raf Freire from Charles Sturt University’s veterinary sciences school told the ABC:”To be honest, I don’t really know how it’s come about,” he said. It’s not too unusual if a hen is very stressed, you sometimes see it in cages, where they retain that egg. They don’t lay it, but behavior just stops and the hen usually goes back to feeding.”
He also said it’s possible that instead of the egg being laid, another ovum got released which came down and then “somehow” covered it. “EGGCEPTION,” tweeted one of the users. “I am not dealing with the egg inside the egg very well,” tweeted another. As per reports, Mr Stockman threw away both the eggs. What are your views on the same? Let us know in the comments below.
