And it’s out! The trailer of the most-awaited Vishal Bhardwaj high-octane romantic drama, Rangoon was released on Thursday night on Twitter. The promotions for the trailer begun with three posters that peaked up the curiosities.  The movie stars Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. Set in circa 1940, this love triangle has been shot in Arunachal Pradesh against a backdrop of the 1944 World War II when India was fighting for Independence. It’s noteworthy that Vishal Bharadwaj has given both Saif and Shahid their career best films, namely Omkara and Haider. Kangana plays Julia who is a reigning queen of Bombay while Saif plays a filmmaker and also a shrewd businessman who is in love with her but fate has other plans for them as the feisty Kangana falls in love with the soldier played by Shahid who’s given the tough task of safeguarding her safety in the war raging Rangoon. What ensues is a gritty tale of love, war, and deceit. While we loved the boys, Saif and Shahid, it’s Kangana who steals the show and we cannot help but talk endlessly on her amazing screen presence and a sassy avatar! Miss Julia aka Kangana aka Queen

The trailer takes us through a rollercoaster ride of emotions and undeniably reaches a crescendo that defines a classic Vishal Bharadwaj saga. Kangana aka Queen aka Miss Julia looks feisty, resplendent and the love anguished vintage girl all through the trailer. Ringing a vintage vibe, the trailer shows Kangana as the playful and spunky Miss Julia who stars in the movie called Toofan Ki Beti, directed by the pipe smoking movie maker, Saif Ali Khan. Mouthing a sassy “Bloody Hell” dialogue, Miss Julia wins hearts as she also indulges in some typical goon bashing sequences a la her black short dress and an eye mask! In sync with the backdrop of the movie, Kangana’s outfits are seriously making us swoon! Looking chic in a short haircut accentuated by those bouncy and enviable signature curls, it’s only fair that her vintage ensembles are perfect to the T. Sporting separates of sheer blouses (Oh yes! They were very classily called blouses back then!) and printed midi dresses with short sleeves and clean cuts, Kangana’s ensembles have been carefully curated by costume designer and actress Dolly Ahluwalia.  (ALSO SEE Happy Birthday A R Rahman: 7 best songs the music legend presented the country!)

The opening scene of Kangana’s grand entry shows her riding a white horse, holding the reins and with a whip in the other hand. As Miss Julia, Kangana wears a one-shouldered black short leather jumpsuit replete with a cape and thigh-high boots, whipping the villains! Sporting chic floral dresses thereafter, Kangana is a delight to watch as she undergoes a series of emotions, a playful banter with Shahid followed by a hopeless confession of love and the ensuing battle for love. Kangana looks beautiful in a beautiful strapless ball gown that is delicately accessorized by a beautiful diamond necklace. (ALSO SEE Kaabil Mon Amour song: Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam give us style and relationship goals!)
