In a first of its kind wedding, a Bengali bride not only posed happily for the cameramen but also retorted to the ceremony of Kanakanjali, saying that “you can never repay parents debts”. In the said ceremony, the bride is expected to throw handfuls of rice over to her mother in lieu of having ‘repaid all her debts.’
Though the bride carried forth all the rituals ceremoniously, donning a traditional red-coloured Benarasi saree, she attacked several of these stereotypes and also bid her parents a hearty goodbye with the assurance that she will come back to her house whenever she feels like. The sassy video broke the internet as the netizens wildly lauded her for her rebellious attitude on her wedding day, saying more women need to come out of their conditional impositions and break them by being inspired by her.

A girl marrying off does not mean that her duties towards her parents r over. She will keep coming to her parents n enjoy the company of both the houses. Let’s stop this custom of sheding tears on these occasions. Well done girl” (sic).
