Every year, on January 26, India celebrates the Republic Day. The day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950. The days is celebrated with great pomp and fervour across the country. Patriotic songs are played on television channels, radio and on the streets. Educational institutes organise cultural functions and sports day, while a grand Republic Day Parade is organised in Delhi, where the army, navy and airforce put forth a grand show. On this day, people not only remember the great freedom fighters, but also get inspired by the soldiers guarding the borders of our country. However, a few continue to remain “unsung heroes”, and a healthcare company has released a touching tribute to them.
The “unsung heroes” of the Indian army are none other than the medics who protect our soldiers. The ad, released by 1mg, aims to honour the Indian Army Medical Corps. The medics are most often not in the limelight, and therefore, their selfless service to the army and to the nation is not highlighted much. Calling them the one who “protect the protectors”, 1mg released the ad on their social media platforms, and in no time, it went viral. It was shared on their Facebook page on January 22, and already has over 9 lakh views and nearly 6,000 shares. The touching voiceover in the ad is sure to strike a chord with millions in India, and also bring into focus the selfless service extended by the medics. The ad has a subtle tone that never goes over-the-top, nor does it resort to over-dramatisation. It makes for a beautiful tribute to the Army Medical Corps on the eve of the 69th Republic Day.
