They say when it rains, it pours. But what would one make of rainfall of gold, diamonds and other precious metals? Bizarre, yet true, as a Russia airport experienced recently, reports Navbharat Times. What led to the ‘precious’ downpour was a cargo plane taking flight with a door left ajar. And soon enough, gold, diamonds and other precious metals were falling on the tarmac. By the time shocked people realised what was happening and did something to rectify it, about a third of the cargo had fallen on the runway.
The incident occurred at Yakusk airport in Russia, reports say. The plane had to have an emergency landing in a village 12km away. Crew members are safe but how much cargo was lost or has been retrieved is yet to be ascertained. Reports also suggest that there was some technical issue with the wings of the aircraft that led to the incident. A bystander at the airport made a video of the incident and shared it on social media, instantly making it a hit.
