The Salman Khan hit-and-run case verdict had shocked everyone, with the actor being sentenced to five years in jail by a Sessions Court in Mumbai. The case dates back to September 2002, when the actor allegedly mowed down pavement dwellers in a drunk-driving incident at night. This happened outside the American Express bakery in Mumbai’s Bandra West area. Of the five people sleeping on the pavement, a victim died while four other were injured.
The court case regarding the same has been going on for the last 13 years, with hearing being postponed again and again. Salman got bail soon after he appealed to the Bombay High Court against conviction in the case. On June 15, 2015, the Bombay High Court postponed the hearing to July 1, 2015. The hearing was adjourned, as Salman Khan‘s lawyers were still in the process of preparing case papers.
Now as the July 1 hearing nears, Salman’s family is feeling the jitters. The actor’s father, veteran Bollywood scriptwriter Salim Khan, spoke to 9X about the fear of seeing his son in jail again. Salman earlier went to jail in the Blackbuck Poaching case. Salim Sa’ab also objected to Salman’s case being called ‘hit-and-run‘, just like he had expressed earlier in The Boss Dialogues.
