Two Indian Americans – Gopal Venkatachalam and Vanya Shivashankar won the 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee Competition held in United States of America. In doing so, for the eighth consecutive year the competition has been won by Indians. Spelling Bee is a spelling contest, where participants are asked to spell out different words in English, having varied origins. It originated in the United States of America and the first contest was held in 1925. Today, variants of the spelling bee is being organised in different countries.
