In yet another incident of crime at Mumbai‘s local train stations, Sapna Shukla, a 24-year-old woman was pushed to death simply because a 19-year-old boy wanted to snatch her gold chain! The incident happened around 8 pm on Tuesday, December 7, at Mumbai’s most crowded Kurla station on Platform no. 1. The man attempting to snatch her chain pushed her onto an oncoming train, as revealed in the shocking video from the closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the station. The woman, who was waiting to board the ladies’ first class compartment in the train, lost her balance and fell under the train, dying on the spot!

The deceased was a young woman from Lucknow who worked with HDFC Life at the Bandra-Kurla Complex and lived in Ghatkopar near Kurla. The accused was nabbed by commuters on the platform and been arrested and identified as Rafi Bairagi Charan Malik. He told the railway police that he tried to snatch the victim’s chain, as he needed money to return to his village in Orissa after he didn’t find work in Mumbai for a month, reports Mumbai Mirror. Rafi Bairagi Charan Malik has been booked under Indian Penal Code’s Section 304 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and Section 393 for attempted robbery. Sapna Shukla’s father BN Shukla is inconsolable. He told the tabloid, “They say she lost her balance. Was it her fault?”

Just recently, an office-going lady had died when a man on a pole on the railway tracks tried to snatch her purse with the help of a rope. She was pulled along with the rope and died on the spot. Watch the shocking video here (viewer discretion advised) of the 24-year-old woman being pushed under a train.
