Smriti Irani, the ’12th pass’ HRD Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet, has found an unlikely supporter in Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah! While the Congress’ Ajay Maken and BJP supporter Madhu Kishwar have objected to Irani being ineligible to hold the post of Human Resource Development Minister against, Abdullah is against pointing such fingers.

Ajay Maken had tweeted on May 27, “What a Cabinet of Modi? HRD Minister (Looking after Education) Smriti Irani is not even a graduate! Look at her affidavit at ECI site pg 11!”

To which Abdullah, a Congress supporter, replied, “To say that someone needs to be educated to be HRD Min is like saying one needs to be a pilot for Civil Aviation or a miner for Coal Min”.

Newly appointed Minister of Water Resources Uma Bharti also came out in support of Irani, asking for Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s qualifications instead.
