On Saturday, Australia cricket captain Steve Smith owned up to charges of ball tampering during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town. He confessed after the footage of Australian opener Cameron Bancroft rubbing the ball and holding a foreign object before hiding it in his pocket and then inside his trousers went viral.

Following the ball-tampering scandal, Steve Smith stepped down as an Australian captain and David Warner as the vice-captain. However, Steve Smith was also handed a one-match suspension and fined 100% of his match fee. And Bancroft has been handed three demerit points and fined 75% of his match fee.

This incident shocked the world and cricket fraternity. However, Twitterati is flooding Twitter with funny jokes and memes, mocking the Australian team.

These Twitter jokes and memes are extremely funny! However, if the maximum penalty is applied under Cricket Australia’s code of behaviour, Smith and Warner may face life bans. According to reports, Iain Roy, the Head of Integrity, and Pat Howard, team performance manager of Australian cricket board, have travelled to South Africa to begin interviews with the players and with coach Darren Lehmann.
