‘Sisters and Brothers of America’, these were the words that touched the Americans emotionally and they gave standing ovation to Swami Vivekananda. He not only asked people to follow the principle of ‘Universal Brotherhood’ but also preached the rich history and culture of India to the world.
Swami Vivekananda asked people not to divide the society on religious lines. He requested people to accept all religions truly and to adopt the habit of acceptance and tolerance. Describing the principle of brotherhood of Hinduism he said, “I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal tolerance but we accept all religions as true.”
Talking about the India’s culture he said that India is the country that always welcome the people of all religions and gives shelter to them. The world is fighting with terror; that terror which is created by spreading religious hatred. Swami Vivekananda’s words of wisdom are the need of the hour.
