Only because a woman’s sexuality and her choice of seeking sexual pleasure is a big deal, two random people were seen holding placards that targeted actor Swara Bhasker for being verbally active in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The two seemingly educated young people dressed up decently and held the same placard asking people to ‘vote wisely.’ The placard that they were holding read, “This election, don’t be like Swara Bhasker, use your finger wisely. Vote Wisely!” With that, that tried to troll Swara for her scene in Veere Di Wedding in which she is seen masturbating. However, the actor didn’t shy away from taking them down and tweeted about them.

Swara posted the images of the two and thanked them for showing so much love and dedication in popularising her name in the sarcastic tweet. Swara’s post read, “Awwwwwww!!!!! My trolls are hard at work again, sweating it out in the heat to popularise my name.. You guys are SO dedicated & sweet!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗❣️❣️❣️❣️ Don’t mind the slut-shaming guys.. their imagination is a bit limited.. but loving the effort you two 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾” (sic)

The masturbation scene in her film was much discussed and debated during the time of the film’s release as well. Swara came out stronger then too and maintained that every woman has a right on her body. She was praised by most people in the industry and also the young audience who loved her performance as Sakshi in the film. One of the actor’s colleagues from the industry even said that only because Swara isn’t the quintessential Bollywood doll who shies away from speaking on public issues, she faces more hatred and criticism for voicing her opinion.

The actor’s visible courage of standing up for herself and speaking her mind has always been applaudable. Amid all the hatred, slut-shaming and constant efforts of pulling her down, Swara never lost her sparkle. You go, girl!
