4th July 1776 marked the independence day of currently the strongest nation in the world from the tyrannical rule of the British Empire. The United States of America being under the rule of the British Empire went through a series of struggles for their freedom and finally signed the declaration of independence. What this declaration did provide the world with is the idea of a Constitution and democracy, something that various nations that followed the United States in their quest of independence adopted after gaining their independence.

After the Revolution, genuinely democratic politics became possible.The rights of the people were incorporated into state constitutions. Concepts of liberty, individual rights, equality among men and hostility toward corruption became incorporated as core values of liberal republicanism.

The following lines were included in the Declaration of the American Independence, a line that has been synonymous with the American revolution as a whole.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
