Sachin: A Billion Dreams based on the India and world’s all-time greatest cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar released to packed theatres on May 26, 2017. The movie depicted the unseen side of Tendulkar’s life journey, right from his childhood to achieving his dream, lifting the World Cup in 2011. An integral part or should we say the person in the star cricketer’s life has been Vinod Kambli, fellow cricketer and his childhood friend. They were friends for life, but even unbreakable bonds shatter, and they drifted apart. But just when cricket fans thought Tendulkar and Kambli would never be together again, the latter posted the sweetest message for his star friend a day after the release of the movie. The tweet from Kambli to Tendulkar read: ‘Dear Master Blaster.I Love You’, and we are crying buckets now. Sachin Tendulkar trolled for promoting Sachin: A Billion Dreams movie extensively! Even God of Cricket is not spared by online trolls.

Everyone before watching Sachin: A Billion Dreams wondered if the movie would show Vinod Kambli. After all, they had a nasty fall out with so much so that Sachin Tendulkar did not mention Kambli, one of his early batting partners during his retirement speech. Things went downhill between the closest Mumbai cricketers after Kambli accused him of not doing enough for him. But it looks like the bygones are bygones and this one tweet from Vinod Kambli will dissolve all the problems between the two friends. Sachin: A Billion Dreams movie reviewed by Kamaal R Khan without watching it! Tendulkar fans are threatening KRK of dire consequences on Twitter!

In 1988, Kambli and Tendulkar made the highest ever partnership at that time with 664 runs. Sachin Tendulkar in his autobiography, Playing It My Way mentioned about this world-record partnership. The excerpt read: “That partnership of 664 was the highest in any form of cricket at that time. Coming in the semi-final of the Harris Shield (under 16 tournament in Mumbai) made it all the more significant in the local cricket community. It gained us both a lot of recognition. We had become quite a pair and what made batting with Vinod fun was that I never knew what he’d get up to next.” This historic moment is shown in the film as well with hapless opposition bowlers not wanting to bowl at these two. Tendulkar had scored 326 and Kambli made 349 with both remaining unbeaten.

Just like Sachin created and broke records on the cricket pitch, the God of Cricket created history with Sachin: A Billion Dreams becoming the first docu-drama to get the biggest opening in the genre. The film collected Rs 8.40 crore on day one in India in all languages. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the movie to show an upward trend after day 2 box office collections reading Rs 9.20 crore and making it a total of Rs 17.60 crore. No need to be surprised as these are just the early days of the biopic which will break all records just like the Master did.
