Belgium and Russia took to the field head-to-head for FIFA World Cup 2014 Group H at Estadio Maracana, Rio de Janeiro. This was anticipated as a competitive match, since Russia was a more desperate team. Belgium were said to be unbeaten against Russia since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. And Belgium narrowly beat Russia 1-0 with the only goal credited to Divock Origi.

It was the 19-year-old substitute Divock Origi who scored late on from Eden Hazard’s cut back for Belgium. The victory for them moves them onto six points at the top of the Group H.

The win sends Belgium through to the next round and Russia must now rely on other results to go their way.
