Watch Sachin Tendulkar score his first ever run in ODI cricket

ESPN

Iconic international cricketer Sachin Tendulkar celebrates his 41st birthday today. He was born on 24 April, 1973, in Mumbai, India. The cricketing genius made his debut in the one day international (ODI) format against Pakistan in in 1989. He unfortunately scored a duck (zero runs) on his big day.

But in his match against New Zealand in 1990, he scored his first run. This video shows the Little Master walking in on the field as a 16-year-old and going on to bat with the legendary Kapil Dev – standing tall with him, literally.

It’s a delight to watch a young Sachin hitting boundaries all across the ground and scoring a quick 36. He looks diminutive but his shots ooze confidence and command at such a young age. Must watch!
