Wayne Rooney has been under immense scrutiny recently. The Manchester United skipper has been in a wretched run of form off late and the Old Trafford faithful has even booed him on a couple of occasions. On Saturday though, the 30-year-old turned back the clock and scored a goal that would rate amongst one of the best of the 238 ones he has netted for the Red Devils.
Anthony Martial was yet again immense up front and made things happen for Louis van Gaal’s men. He scored the opening goal but Swansea City were on level terms soon as Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised in the second half. Just when it looked like United’s winless streak would stretch to another game, Rooney popped up in the middle, meeting Martial’s cross and slotted the ball home with a wonderfully executed backheel-his left leg perched behind his right, which was rooted to the ground. United continued to be in the hunt for a Champions League place with the win but remain a long way off Arsenal and Manchester City. Watch the video below:
