There have been numerous films and roles where Anil Kapoor has regaled us, made us laugh, cry, fall in love. He is one of the most popular icons of Hindi cinema and had proved his versatility with his incredible body of work. He comes from a film family but that didn’t make his journey any easier. It was a personal hichki that the actor had to overcome to become a star that he is today.

It may come across as shocking since he is known as one of the best looking men in the industry and has also made us laugh our guts out with his comic timing in a few films. But when Anil started doing films, he couldn’t quite smile in front of camera to his satisfaction – because of his Hichki. The actor spoke about this when the makers of Rani Mukerji’s film Hichki reached out to him to find out how he converted his weakness into massive a strength and that’s when Anil opened up on his.

Anil reveals, “When I began my career I was told that my eyes are quite small and they looked even smaller when I smiled. That made me conscious about smiling. I would never smile openly, and I would suppress my natural smile. But then I overcame this Hichki. I began to stop worrying that my eyes would look small, and I worked on my smile. Now, each time I smile, I do so freely, having overcome my Hichki.” Anil learnt to let go and not have others’ opinions bog him down. And we are glad for don’t we all fall in love with him a little more whenever his character Lakhan smiles on the screens?
