2017 Maruti Swift and Swift Dzire Hybrid to return over 30kmpl of mileage
Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker is gearing up for the launch of the Maruti Ciaz SHVS Diesel Hybrid in the country in September, 2015. The company is also working on the next generation Swift and the Swift Dzire, which are scheduled to go on sale in 2016-17. The next Swift twins would be benefited with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) hybrid system.
While the Ciaz diesel hybrid is claimed to return about 28kmpl, MSI is planning to cross the 30kmpl mileage barrier. The company aims to achieve this mileage by reducing weight, using new engine technologies and SHVS hybrid system. While the Ciaz SHVS hybrid has already reached dealerships for customer preview, reports suggest that the Ertiga hybrid variant will go on sale by the end of this year. The hybrid models will be powered by the same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine.
Talking about the SHVS hybrid system, it comprises of a compact integrated starter generator (ISG) which provide mild power boost to engine, and a regenerative braking system. The system will automatically switch-off the car while stopping at a traffic light, and switches upon releasing the clutch. Adding to it, the vehicle will also get Blue Technology, which reduces harmful emissions from engine.
