Toyota Kirloskar Motor is likely to launch the refreshed version of Toyota Corolla Altis in India on March 15. As per the report from AutoCar India, the Japanese car maker may launch the mid-life update of Corolla Altis as selected dealers have already started taking bookings for the sedan. The booking amount of the sedan ranges from INR 50,000 to 1 lakh depending on the dealer. With the introduction of new Corolla Altis, the company will be looking to tighten its grip in the D-segment. The basic profile of the new Corolla Altis facelift will remain untouched yet, it will sport new front and rear bumpers, new front grille and modified front and back lights. Based on Toyota s latest design language, the refreshed version will be more premium and bolder than the outgoing model as it gets sleek headlamps and a narrow grille. It will also sport bi-beam LED headlamps as seen on the current generation Fortuner SUV. The rear profile will also be worked with slight alteration which might include new LED tail lamps.
The changes will also be carried on the inside as well wherein the dashboard will sport revised layout along with soft touch surfaces, bigger touchscreen infotainment system, all-new circular design for air conditioning controls and AC vents. Feature-wise, it is expected to get better quality upholstery, new Toyota touch-2 system with navigation, a 4.2-inch MID display with updated software, better cabin insulation and refined electric power steering. Under the hood, the refreshed version of Corolla Altis will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol unit will carry a 1.8-litre petrol engine that can easily produce max power of 140bhp with 173Nm of peak torque whereas the diesel variant will carry a 1.4-litre oil burner that will develop 88bhp of power against the peak torque of 205Nm toque. With the introduction of new Corolla Altis, the rivalry in the segment will intensify as it will take on the rivals such as Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and the likes. As Corolla Altis is the best selling product in the segment, it is expected to continue its dominance in the segment. Lastly for the price point, the new Corolla Altis will be price in the range of INR 13.5 lakh – INR 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
