Bajaj Dominar 400
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is a power cruiser and a flagship offering from Bajaj Auto that will be positioned above the Pulsar RS 200. The bike comes with a ‘Leo’ stance with beefy proportions, which gives it a muscled look. Features on the bike include full LED headlights, beefy 43 mm front telescopic forks, rear gas charged mono-shock, twin LCD displays for the instrument cluster, split two piece seats, wide handlebars, LED taillights and rear grab rails. The Dominar 400 comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels with silver accents while it comes shod with 150 section MRF C1 rubber at the rear along with 110 section MRF FC1 tyres at the front. The Bajaj Dominar 400 gets the same 373 cc mill seen in the KTM Duke 390, but in a completely different state of tune that lowers power and torque figures for a linear progression of output. The Dominar’s engine delivers 35 PS of maximum power and 35 Nm of peak torque, which comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. While the official top speed is 148 kmph, first ride reviews and vlogs of the motorcycle suggest a possible speedometer-indicated speed of around 160 kmph. The Dominar 400 gets a contoured stamped metal swing-arm, as opposed to the rectangular box-section ones seen in Bajaj’s previous machines. It also gets a beam type pressed steel perimeter frame seen in the Pulsar 200 NS, the AS siblings and the 150 NS. The tyres are wide and low-profile ones from MRF, designed specifically for the Dominar 400 and coupled with a massive 320 mm disc brake up front and a 230 mm disc at the rear. Both are connected a dual-channel ABS for improved safety, a must-have feature for any bike in India in our books. With its “Leo Stance”, the Dominar 400 will soon become a common sight on Indian roads and give tough competition to rivals like the Royal Enfield Classic and Thunderbird 350, Mahindra Mojo, KTM Duke 390 and even the upcoming BMW G 310 R.
