DSK-Benelli has long been planning to launch the Benelli Tornado 302R in India. The bike was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, while the company recently started taking bookings for the Tornado 302R at an amount of INR 25,000. According to an official statement, the company has rechristened the bike as DSK-Benelli 302R, omitting the ‘Tornado’ prefix. The 302R will be the first fully faired sportsbike to come from the stables of Benelli. Unlike previous DSK-Benelli bikes, the 302R will come equipped with ABS as standard. DSK-Benelli 302R
While the delay is understandably frustrating to those waiting for the motorcycle, DSK-Benelli has revealed that the launch was delayed to provide the ABS ready bike to Indian customers. Providing ABS as standard fitment will definitely be a welcome addition to the DSK-Benelli 302R, given its specifications and performance DNA. Based on the naked Benelli TNT 300, the fully faired Benelli Tornado 302 or 302R will cater to the fairing-obsessed Indian audience.
Apart from the new clothes for the naked street bike, the 302R will also feature a new and lighter trellis frame for improved handling and cornering dynamics. The heart of the motorcycle will be the same: a liquid-cooled, 302 cc parallel-twin engine that is tuned to deliver 38 BHP of maximum power at 12,000 RPM and 27 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 RPM. The engine will come coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. Read More: Benelli Tornado 302R bookings open; India launch in July 2017

The Benelli 302R will come equipped with upside-down forks up front and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. The Benelli Tornado 302 will also get dual disc brakes in the front and a single disc unit at the rear. The expected pricing will be INR 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom), squaring the bike up against other performance-focused motorcycles like the KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha YZF-R3.
