India has been one of the integral markets for BMW and has been used a major testing ground for most of its cars. The diverse terrains and the unpredictable climatic conditions of India have aided the carmaker to equip its vehicles to tackle the different driving conditions across various global markets.
Coming to the vehicle itself, the new 2016 X1 is designed based on the company’s UKL platform and weighs just 1430 kg, which is a good 135kg lights than the previous model. The new X1 looks much more stylish and sporty and dimension wise measures 4,439 mm in length, 1,821 mm in width, 1,598 mm in height and 2,670 mm in wheelbase.
As mentioned earlier the unit that has been imported to India is the X1 sDrive20d. This particular BMW X1 is powered by a 1995cc oil burner that is capable of unleashing 190 horses along with a peak torque output of 400 Nm. The engine is paired to a 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox transmitting power to the front wheel and is said to return a fuel efficiency of 24.49 kmpl.
