If you understand the basic mechanics, then you won't be surprised to know that while negotiating a turn, the two powered wheels rotate at different speeds. For example, if there's a left hander, the left wheel becomes the inside wheel while the right wheel becomes the outside wheel. The change in wheel speeds is taken care of by a device called differential and if we are talking about an enthusiast oriented car like the 2-series.

The recently unveiled 2-series will go on sale next year after it makes an appearance at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show. While a limited slip diff won't be offered as part of the standard equipment, you can get one fitted from BMW once you buy the car. It will obviously ensure that the 2er doesn't receive all the flak that some other BMWs have received because of the absence of an LSD. Earlier, BMW gave the 4-series a very similar treatment as it introduced the optional LSD as an optional retrofit part for the bigger coupe.
