Honda is all set to launch the Amaze in India in by the second quarter of 2013. However, we drove the compact sedan’s diesel version in Japan and here are all the photos of the early prototype. Read on for more:
The front end of the Honda Amaze is a lot similar to the Brio hatchback that it is based on. The distinction comes from the twin-slat chrome plated grille and the body coloured air dam.
The front three quarter view quickly tells you that the Amaze is a compact sedan with its small boot and bonnet.
The side profile showcases the Brio-inspired twin-triangle design philosophy. The creases add flair to the overall design, but isn’t as busy as Hyundai’s fluidic design language.
The tailgate is busy though with lots of creases all around. The chrome bar that runs across the length of the boot-lid looks like a Swift Dzire inspiration.
Out of all the compact sedans in its class, the Amaze looks the most balanced without doubt.
The tipped-forward stance looks even sportier when in motion.
The rear-three quarter is the best angle to view the Amaze from.
The Amaze does look under-tyred despite the 14-inch wheels and the longer wheelbase.
On wet surfaces, the MRF ZVTV tyres aren’t the best to have, but the Amaze didn’t feel as skittish as our test Swift hatch.
The MRF tends to scream in a high pitch note though!
The Honda City inspired taillights look very good and establish the familial connection. They look even better when lit.
The Earth Dreams technology is the driving force behind the much-awaited diesel engine.
