Photo Feature: Lamborghini Aventador Roadster

Lamborghini’s long-awaited substitute for the outrageous Aventador J Speedster is out!  

Lamborghini calls it the “most exciting production Lamborghini ever built”. Well, if we go by the pictures released, there really is no questioning Lamborghini’s such a bold statement as the brand-new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster which the carmaker has unveiled, looks every bit as exciting as the stunning one-off Aventador J Speedster.

The Aventador Roadster gets a carbonfibre roof instead of the retractable fabric hood which the Murcielago had. Made entirely from carbonfibre, Lamborghini claims this new two-piece roof arrangement is lightweight (weighs just 6kg) and compact enough to be stored in the front luggage compartment.

Like the coupe, the Aventador Roadster gets the same 6.5-litre, V12 putting out 700PS of power via 7-speed, single-clutch paddleshift gearbox. Thanks to the 4WD system, the Roadster too is insanely quick off the line with 0-100kph coming up in just 3 seconds! With the carbonfibre roof, the Aventador Roadster is capable of hitting a claimed top speed of about 350kph!

The Roadster comes with a powered rear windshield that controls the airflow over the car and the sound coming from the V12 engine when the roof is down. The car also gets a redesigned engine cover compared to the one found in the coupe.

In terms of pricing, the Aventador Roadster carries a premium of about Rs 50 lakh over the coupe, however, it isn't available just yet as Lamborghini plans to put it on sale sometime next year.
