What is Specifications?
The specifications reveal the capacity of a vehicle in terms of displacement, number of cylinders, power output and torque delivery. Specifications, as a combined terms tells you all the relevant information that you need to know about a certain petrol or a diesel engine. What is a Petrol Engine?

What is a Diesel Engine?
The diesel engine is similar to a petrol engine in the sense that both are internal combustion engines. A diesel engine works when gas is compressed by the piston which generates heat which meets a mist of fuel that has been sprayed through a fuel injection system into the cylinder. The fuel and the hot air mix with each other and explode without the need of any spark plug. The lack of spark plug allows for easy compression of fuel and higher efficiency.
What is Power / BHP?
BHP stands for Brake Horse Power and is the common unit that is used to measure the power of any vehicle. It is measured by keeping the vehicle unit on a fly wheel a.k.a. dynamometer. On the other hand, HP (horse power) is the maximum power produced by the vehicle before it is transferred to the drive train.
What is Torque / NM?
Torque is the real testament to the strength that an engine possesses and the diesel engines have higher torque than the petrol powered engines. Torque is the force with which a vehicle accelerates, thus it is torque which makes a vehicle move forward and not the horsepower.
What is Engine Displacement?
It is the capacity of the engine which is the max amount of air that the engine can displace when the piston completes the four stroke cycle once. It is often measured in CC (cubic capacity) or litres in cars.
What is a Transmission unit?
A transmission is connected to the engine via clutch which can be disengaged by pressing the pedal or a lever and ultimately leads to removal of torque. The transmission helps select gear ratios which usually consist of 5 or 6 forward gears with a reverse gear. Other transmissions on offer are AMT (automated manual transmission, dual-clutch automatic, CVT (continuously variable transmission) and semi automatic transmission.
What are Engine Valves?
A cylinder has an intake valve and an exit valve just like a human heart and both valves open and close to control the flow of fuel into the combustion cell.
What does Mileage / Fuel efficiency mean?
This refers to the distance that a vehicle can travel on a single unit of fuel. The units of fuels and distance traveled are different at places, so in India we use Kilometer for distance and litre for fuel which comes out to kilometers per litre or kmpl.

A suspension maximizes the friction between the wheels and the road surface thus preventing the least possible amount of imperfections and undulations of the road to the passengers.
How does a Brake System works?
The braking system is as important as the engine because it helps in bringing a vehicle to a stop. A brake is a mechanical device that hampers the vehicular motion for slowing it down by applying friction to the wheels or axle.
What is Tyre Size?
Tyre size is the width of the rubber which is worn by the rims. The tyre size is mentioned on the side profile of the rubber in mm (millimeters). For example the tyre size of Tata Tiago is 175 mm.
What are Alloy Wheels?
Alloy wheels are lighter than normal steel wheels and allow better performance in a vehicle. Alloy wheels are visually appealing as well because they can be painted, polished, chromed or machined which gives them a sense of individuality as well.
