Honda thinking of Hybrid technology for India
With more than a month left for Honda's much awaited Jazz to be launched into India, Honda Car India has expressed its desire to study the market for a possibility of introducing hybrids into the country.
This was a part of a formal discussion which the company had recently organised in order to introduce the company's new management to industry insider (us journalists basically). Having said that the debate of offering environment friendly vehicles has yet again come to light with the recent introduction of the Toyota Camry Hybrid. Though this introduction was a mere facelift however we also have the Prius which is sold alongside this model showing Toyota's commitment towards a greener environment.

Seeing competition grow into their highly unexplored segment, Honda has not denied the fact that is currently doing a feasibility study understand market dynamics when it comes buying and selling hybrids in our country. Taking into account Delhi's green tribunal panel which is looking into alarming rate at which the pollution levels are increasing in the national capital and it bordering areas. Thus wanting to ban 10 - 15 year old cars, bikes and commercial vehicles per say.
In a bid to promote the Hybrid and electric vehicle sector, the Government of India some time back announced Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India Scheme). A part of National Electric Mobility Mission Plan, this particular scheme offers incentives on such vehicles with amounts of INR 29,000 for two wheelers while the all important four wheeler segment would see a rebate of INR 1.38 lakh. This is good news for both the manufacturer as well as the end consumer as prices would be lowers that is what they are currently. It is said that as per the scheme, the government would be spending INR 795 crore in the first two years to promote hybrid and electric cars in India.
