New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India, in collaboration with LICO Materials, part of the Epsilon Group, has introduced a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as part of its ‘Project Revive’. The system uses repurposed batteries from the MG ZS EV, aiming to support the circular EV economy. The BESS is designed to offer a longer lifespan—four times more than traditional solutions—and to reduce operating costs by up to 60%. This is the fourth pilot project under Project Revive, which focuses on extending the life of EV batteries beyond their primary use.

The initiative aims to address sustainability challenges by supporting grid stability and optimizing the use of renewable energy sources. The BESS is available in three models with capacities of 18kWh, 100kWh, and 300kWh, designed for various residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Each model includes advanced safety features such as immersion oil cooling, multi-layered safety designs, and smart thermal management systems. They are also capable of functioning across a wide temperature range, from -20°C to 60°C, and come with a warranty of over five years.

LICO Materials, known for its work in battery recycling and refurbishment, has developed these systems to give end-of-life batteries a second life, reducing waste. Their work contributes to enhancing grid resilience and advancing sustainable energy storage solutions. JSW MG Motor India’s previous initiatives under Project Revive, including partnerships for off-grid charging stations and battery recycling, further demonstrate the company’s focus on promoting sustainable mobility and energy solutions.
