After the launch of TVS Apache RR 310, TVS Motor is now focusing on the newer version of Apache RTR 160 which is expected to be revealed at Auto Expo 2018. The motorcycle has been spotted testing on the Indian roads previously confirms that the Hosur based bike manufacturing company is focusing on the new age Apache RTR 160 that will take on Honda Hornet, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. The main highlights of the 2017 TVS Apache RTR 160 are likely to be monoshock suspension at the rear, fully digital console, oil cooled engine and much more. It is believed that the next-gen Apache RTR 160 will borrow styling from its elder sibling Apache 200 which will enhance the racing Apache DNA. The entry level naked motorcycle will sport a similar instrument cluster likewise Apache 200 along with mono shock suspension at the rear, rear LED tail light, silver panel on the side, single seat setup, skinnier tyres, electric / kick start, exhaust unit and much more. The deceleration duties will be taken care by disc brake at the front while the rear will see a drum brake setup. The new generation Apache RTR 160 is expected to see an air-cooled single cylinder 4-valve engine which will be BS-4 compliant and will be tuned to develop more power & torque in comparison to the current generation RTR 160. However, the existing Apache RTR 160 is capable of developing 15.2hp of max power against the peak torque of 13.1Nm and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. As seen in the video, the engine on the test vehicle seems to be more responsive whereas the exhaust note seems to be more like Apache 200 with lesser bass. With the introduction of 2017 TVS Apache RTR 160, the motorcycle will play an integral role in enhancing TVS Motors market share in the entry level sports bike space. The arrival date for the motorcycle is yet to be confirmed by the company; however, we speculate that the company might launch the new Apache 160 in India by late 2017 or early next year. In terms of pricing, the new Apache RTR 160 is expected to be priced around INR 82,000 (ex-showroom).
