2018 Yamaha YZF-R1 Launched; Priced in India at INR 20.73 Lakh

The new Yamaha R1 is the flagship offering from the Japanese bike maker in India.

India Yamaha Motor has today announced the launch of the new 2018 Yamaha YZF-R1 in India. The new YZF R1 is priced at INR 20.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and is available in two colour options – Yamaha Blue and Tech Black. The new Yamaha R1 is the flagship offering from the company in India that has been specially developed with pure MotoGP heritage. The 2018 YZF R1 will be imported into the country via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. The 2018 Yamaha R1 is powered by a 998 cc 4-cylinder, cross plane, engine that is tuned to produce a maximum power of 200 BHP without ram air pressurization. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine is derived from YZR-M1 cross plane technology, which gives an uneven 270° – 180° – 90° – 180° firing sequence for high levels of torque and outstanding traction. The chassis of the new 2018 Yamaha YZF R1 is made up of a magnesium rear frame along with a long swing arm that provides outstanding handling. The bike sports race-tuned suspension setup and magnesium alloy wheels. The bike’s engine uses a high compression 01:01 PM cylinder head with large diameter intake and exhaust valves for optimal performance, while the new YZF-R1 is also equipped with titanium con rods and forged aluminium pistons for instant response and strong linear torque. The 2018 Yamaha R1 is underpinned by an aluminium Delta-box frame with a magnesium rear frame. The bike gets a short wheelbase of 1405 mm, while the bike weighs at 199 kg kerb. The bike gets LED headlights and LED daytime running lights that provides a truly unique superbike look. The 2018 YZF R1 also gets a central air intake with a large 10.5 litre air-box, through which air is forcefully fed into the electronically activated Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) funnels.
