A few days back, Ducati India delivered the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario edition to a customer in Pune and its pricing left most of us with sympathy for our bank accounts. The motorcycle was sold at a staggering price of INR 60 lakh (on-road, Pune). Now, Ducati India has started taking orders for yet another hyper expensive model. The Ducati 1299 Superleggera can now be ordered and if you live in India, you will have to pay a whopping price of INR 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) to park it in your garage. Yes, you heard it right! One crore twelve lakh rupees!
With this, Ducati 1299 Superleggera has left behind few of the most expensive motorcycles in India like the Kawasaki Ninja H2R, MV Agusta RC and the Harley-Davidson CVO Limited. The motorcycle is limited to 500 units only. So what exactly makes the Ducati 1299 Superleggera hyper expensive?
The motorcycle has been built with an extensive use of carbon fibre and even its wheels have been made with the lightweight element. This makes the Ducati 1299 Superleggera the first production motorcycle to employ carbon fibre in its wheels. In further order to carry out weight reduction, even the screws in the 1299 Superleggera are made up of titanium. Thanks to all this, the Ducati 1299 Superleggera weighs just 156 kgs.
Coming to what powers the motorcycle, it is the world’s most powerful twin-cylinder engine. The 1285cc, L-twin motor cranks out a massive power output of 215 PS along with a peak torque output of 147 Nm. All this power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission system that gets a quick shifter and auto blipper function. Braking on this one is done with the help of twin 330m disc brakes along with a 245mm disc at the rear.
