The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is today planning to launch a new entry level 100cc commuter motorcycle for the customer in India. Rumours are to be believed, then Yamaha could launch two new products in the two wheeler segment that includes a motorcycle and a scooter. While the motorcycle will be an all new entry level bike, the scooter will in all probability be the Yamaha Ray ZR which was first unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. This mentioned bike is said to have been developed under the INDRA (Innovative and New Development based on Responsible Analysis) project name. Yamaha will be looking at volumes to strengthen its position in the market by targeting rural areas, tier III and tier IV towns. The new Yamaha motorcycle will compete against the most affordable Bajaj CT100, Hero HF Deluxe and the TVS Star City. Powering it will be an all new 100cc engine that will come mated to a 4-speed gearbox. As of now, there are not much details available about the engine's power output figures but we can expect around 8-9 bhp of power and a similar amount of torque. On the features front, the bike will come devoid of features like alloy wheels, electric starter and digital instrument cluster. Being an entry level commuter segment bike, the motorcycle should deliver a fuel economy in the range of 80 to 90kmpl.
