1.14 lakh units of Chevrolet Tavera recalled in India

In one of the biggest recalls in recent times, General Motors has issued a recall for around 1.14 lakh units of the Tavera MUV. The carmaker confirms that the vehicles manufactured between 2005 and 2013 are being recalled to address emissions and specification issues.

GM has recalled both BS3 (2.5-litre engine) and BS4 (2-litre engine) variants for emission and specification issues respectively. The company has said that it would replace the faulty component, free of charge and that its 280 dealerships have been informed.

According to the company, production and sales of the Tavera have already been stopped. Also, the company has stopped making the diesel versions of the Sail sedan and the hatchback due to quality issues. GM, though, says that it will resume production of the Sail by the end of this month while the BS3 Tavera could roll out by the end of August.
