Jeep Compass, a premium SUV from the house of American car maker is amongst the hot selling cars in the Indian market today. Launched earlier this year at INR 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom), Jeep India has recalled about 1200 Jeep Compass manufactured during September 5 and November 19, 2017. The company has initiated this recall due to issue with passenger side airbag. As a part of global move, the company decided to rectify the issue in about 7000 units of the premium SUV manufactured in US and 1000 units in Canada & Mexico. This recall is intimated for repairing the loose fasteners that are likely to found its way into the airbag undetected during the assembly process.
The company said that these loose fasteners are likely to pose a hazard if deployed.

The car maker has also mentioned that the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue along with any complaints or warranty claims for the same. However, the car maker has advised the customers the affected customers to avoid the usage of front passenger airbag unless the issue is resolved. The company has asked the authorised dealers to contact the customers that are affected by the issue and to carry out the replacement without any cost.

This premium SUV became a hot product in the Indian market as soon as it was launched in July this year. As per the data from Society of Indian Automobiles Manufactures, the carmaker has retailed about 7561 units of the premium SUV till October 2017.
