2011 Hyundai Verna launched at Rs. 6.99-lakh to Rs. 10.75-lakh

Hyundai has taken the wraps off the new Verna sedan which we had told you about a little while back. The new Verna will be available with four engine options as expected viz. 1.4-litre, 107 PS and 1.6-litre, 123 PS petrol engines and 1.4-litre, 90 PS and 1.6-litre, 128 PS diesel mills. Both these options will be available across ten variants in all. The top end models of both 1.6-litre versions (petrol and diesel) will be available with an optional automatic transmission. 

The new Verna claims to have earned a five star rating for safety as per the Chinese NCAP standards. To reassure this fact, the Verna comes with six airbags, ABS and EBD. Other features include an infotainment system compatible with USB, auxiliary input, iPod / iPhone, Bluetooth etc., keyless entry and ignition, leather interiors, climate control, a reversing camera and 16-inch alloys. 

The icing on the cake is the pricing. The 2011 Hyundai Verna for India starts at a tempting Rs. 6.99-lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base model which is powered by the 1.4-litre petrol engine. It is followed by the 1.6-litre petrol engined base variant at Rs. 7.64-lakh, 1.6 SX at Rs. 8.24-lakh, 1.6 SX(O) at Rs. 8.95-lakh and 1.6SX(O) Automatic at Rs. 9.65-lakh.

The diesel Verna, which is sure to set the ring on fire will start at Rs. 8-lakh for the 1.4-litre base variant. The 1.6-litre CRDI diesel engined base variant follows at Rs. 8.75-lakh, 1.6 SX CRDI at Rs. 9.35-lakh, 1.6 SX(O) CRDI at Rs.10-lakh and 1.6SX(O) CRDI Automatic at Rs.10.75-lakh.

The ARAI certified fuel efficiency figures are as follows:

1.4-litre VTVT (Petrol): 17.43 kmpl

1.6-litre VTVT (Petrol): 17.01 kmpl

1.4-litre CRDI (Diesel): 23.5 kmpl

1.6-litre CRDI (Diesel): 22.32 kmpl
