2013 Frankfurt Motor Show: Land Rover Discovery facelift

The new Discovery could go on sale before year end. 

Following the recent spottings of the prototype models of the Land Rover Discovery facelift, it’s been said that the new mildly upgraded version could go on sale before the end of this year as a 2014 year model.

The Discovery facelift will not feature a drastic makeover in terms of design. This new model, instead, will get new Range Rover-inspired design cues including sleek LED strips, redesigned grille and front bumper.

Underneath, the new Discovery will lose the 5-litre naturally-aspirated V8 petrol in favor of Jaguar-Land Rover’s new 3-litre supercharged V6 unit. Producing 380PS of power, the latter also powers the F-Type S sports car. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox; however, a 9-speed unit will be introduced at a later stage.
