2013 Skoda Octavia launched in India at Rs 13.95 Lakh

The Octavia is available with three engines and three trim levels. 

In what perhaps could be considered on top of the most awaited launches of 2013, Skoda has finally launched the all-new Octavia in India. With prices starting at Rs Rs 13.95 for the base-spec petrol model going all the way to Rs 19.45 lakh for the top-of-the-line diesel, the Octavia is all-set to take on the D-segment sedan market which is currently dominated by the Hyundai Elantra.

Having made its debut in August this year, the Octavia is now on its way to the dealerships with a variety of engine options and trim levels. Speaking of which, the car is being offered in three trim levels – Active, Ambition and Elegance. As for the power-train – Skoda is offering three engine and three gearbox options.

The petrol range starts with the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Jetta producing 140PS of power and 240Nm of torque. There’s also a bigger, more powerful 1.8-litre unit with 180PS of power. Meanwhile, the diesel powered model is powered by the familiar 2-litre TDI unit found in the rest of Skoda’s lineup.  

While the entry-level 1.4-litre petrol model gets a 6-speed manual gearbox, the more powerful 1.8-litre model features a highly advanced 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The 2-litre diesel model will be available with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The automatic, however, is a 6-speed unit as against the 7-speed gearbox mated to the petrol powered Octavia.
