After giving us a clear indication of what to expect from the upcoming models from Mini, BMW has released some more official details of the all-new 2014 Mini Cooper. Starting with the firepower, the car for the first time will be offered with turbocharged three and four-cylinder engine options.
The new range of 1.5-litre 3-cylinder and 2-litre four cylinder engines have been developed to maximize performance as well as fuel economy. The three-cylinder unit producing 135PS of power and 220Nm of torque will be powering the base models. The high-performance Cooper S model, on the other hand, will get a bigger, 2-litre four-cylinder engine with 190PS of power and 280Nm of torque. Both the engines feature overboost function which helps better the torque figures by a small amount.
Both the three and four cylinder engines will be offered with 6-speed automatic and manual gearbox options. The car will also feature start-stop technology for improved efficiency. In an effort to emphasize the Mini character even more, the whole suspension and steering system will be optimized. Additionally, the carmaker will be introducing adjustable dampers for the first time. Depending on the driver's preferences, it is possible to choose either a sporty or a balanced, comfortable setup for varied road conditions.
