After the successful launch of Vitara Brezza compact SUV and Alto 800 facelift in the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki India is now looking to bring-in 2016 Maruti Alto K10 facelift this year. Likely to launch by end of this year, Maruti Alto K10 facelift will sport minor changes in terms of cosmetic and features. However, nothing is official from Maruti yet but the entry level hatch is likely to make its way to the Indian market by the end of this year. Maruti Alto K10 will be pitted against the French automaker’s KWID 1.0-litre in order to revive the entry level offerings in the segment. Having said that the Alto K10 is likely to get cosmetic revisions, it is evident that it will sport new front grille, revamped headlights, relocated signature badge as well as re-designed bumper on the front fascia. The side profile is likely to remain unchanged, while the rear design could receive minor styling upgrades. Dimensionally, the hatchback is expected to remain the same with 3545mm of length, 1490mm of width, height of 1475mm along with wheelbase of 2360mm and decent ground clearance of 160mm. The current model is offered in 6 different color tones and will continue to be available in the same tones – Tangy Orange, Blue, Silky Silver, Fire Brick Red, Grey and White.
Inside the cabin, the new 2016 Alto K10 will sport much up-market interiors with better quality material compared to the exciting model. Feature wise, it is expected to sport remote keyless entry, central locking system, front power windows, child safety lock and such other features.
On the mechanical front, the new facelift version of Alto K10 will remain unchanged with the same lightweight yet powerful 1.0-litre K-series Petrol engine. The petrol variant develops power output of 67.1 bhp @ 6000 rpm with 90Nm @ 3500 rpm of torque while the CNG variant develops 58.2bhp of power @ 6000 rpm along with the torque output of 78Nm @ 3500 rpm. The transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic.
The new Alto K10 is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current model and we expect that the hatchback will be slotted in the range of INR 3.5 lakh – 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The hatchback will compete against the likes of Renault Kwid 1.0, Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Beat and recent addition to the segment, Datsun redi-GO.
